Brauer Unterstützungs Verein (Brewer’s Klub) — better known as the BUV Brewing Club — is the homebrew club of the Omaha German-American Society.
Founded originally in 1896 and revived in 2009, BUV is a community of homebrewers and beer enthusiasts whose skill levels range from novice to expert. Our members share a passion for brewing, learning, and celebrating beer together.
Who We Are
The BUV Brewing Club exists to:
- Brew and appreciate beer in a supportive, social environment
- Learn from one another’s experience and improve brewing skills
- Educate the public about beer styles and brewing culture
- Connect with the broader brewing community
- Have fun and share great beer along the way

Our Role in the Community
As part of the German-American Society, the BUV Brewing Club:
- Provides beer for the Society’s Oktoberfest celebration, including the official keg each year
- Participates in local beer festivals and events
- Supports brewing culture throughout the Omaha area
- Hosts and co-supports competitions like the Nebraska Shootout
Through these activities, we celebrate not just beer, but community, tradition, and camaraderie.

What We Do
Brewing Together

BUV participates in Society events like Oktoberfest and other beer-centric local gatherings.
Competitions
We help organize and promote competitions like the Nebraska Shootout, open to brewers, judges, and stewards.
Education & Support
Members help each other learn through informal workshops, tastings, and discussions — a key way we grow as brewers.
